Trite/Not Trite
The word i picked was Death. When people normally think of death they think of a skeleton or a reaper, something dark and scary that you hope avoid. i made death not trite by getting rid of the cloak and the scythe and by just making it an old man sitting in a park. i think all the light colors i choses really make the ravens or crows really stand out and seem out of place. i did this because i don't think people should be scared of death, its more complicated than people like to believe.
Prisma boot camp
in progress
in my final, i used many different techniques that i learned in during the boot camp, one of them being how to blend multiple colors with rubbing alcohol or baby oil which i used with the background and another being directional lines within the moon.
Figure boot camp
In progress
I made the work i did because i wanted to show how a single image could represent to different ideas at the same time, such as the hands reaching for each other could be reaching for something you care about or letting go of the same thing .
Oil Painting
When i was first starting i knew i wanted the butterfly and the blue background to contrast and because of that i painted my underpainting a light red.i used visual brush strokes within the background to create a downward motion to go with the drip of my butterfly. I made the texture in the drips by adding lots of terpenoid and liquin to the the orange and yellow paint and let gravity drag the paint down.
Personal Symbol
My personal symbol is a hourglass, and the hourglass itself represents time. I created the bottom with wood, plastic, and clay and the top is just a 2D drawing in pen. To me this symbolizes how time can be both fluid and solid depending on the circumstances. The 3D part is the reachable, solid part cause in situations where someone sets a timer or has an activity at a certain time. It's set in stone and doesn't change. The top is how time can be fleeting and out of reach, you can see it but you can't always interact with it. The amount of sand that is in the top and the bottom also help with the idea that time is ephemeral.
Scholastic Art Awards
I made the book because i enjoying reading especially books by Sarah J Maas, so i decided to draw a book made entirely of different quotes from all of the books from the throne of glass series and the Court of Thorns and Roses series. and while all the words are in pen the pages and the spin of the book are in chalk pastel
